Job Description

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and documenting rocket engine manufacturing processes. As a Manufacturing Planner, you will help translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully detailed manufacturing work instructions. These work instructions will then be used to manufacture functional hardware ready for test, qualification, and flight. Through constant monitoring of the manufacturing process, you will identify where modifications to the work instructions (or other documents) are required to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build sequence and schedules. As an integral member of the team, you will help study the manufacturing process to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test and accelerate the pace of rocket engine development. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable human spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and document rocket engine manufacturing processes
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers with translating engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully detailed manufacturing work instructions

  • Create and maintain hardware build and flow plans
  • Strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test
  • Support and assist with documentation of repair and rework
  • Interface with the procurement team and external suppliers (when necessary) to ensure that hardware is manufactured, inspected, packaged, and delivered properly, on time, and on budget
  • Help ensure hardware configuration and pedigree are maintained throughout the entire build and test process

  • Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • Bachelor of Science or Arts from an accredited university (Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Math degrees preferred) - other relevant fields should apply (relevant/direct industry experience is an acceptable substitute for a BS/BA degree).
