This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a Practice Support Assistant to join our team in our Seattle office.
We offer a hybrid work engagement with three days of remote work, and two days in-office.
The Practice Support Assistant works directly with the collective Practice Support department to ensure the vision of exceptional overall delivery of Practice Support services is provided to the firm's legal teams, clients, and internal firm departments. This position provides support to the Practice Support Technology Team Leads, primarily to support and assist teams with technical expertise in file and data transfers, physical media management, data manipulation and conversion, and the chain of custody lifecycle. This is in addition to integration and developing a frontline skill set associated with Relativity and other department support functions. As an integrated member of the Practice Support department, the Assistant is called upon to collaborate with colleagues, managers, legal teams, and Information Governance to complete work and projects in a timely and effective manner, and typically bills his/her/their time to clients associated with the task requested/completed.

On a typical day you will:
Platform (FTP) Support and Data Management
  • Monitor and accept file transfer assignments as requests are submitted and received via the firm's practice support allocation queue and/or via email
  • Provide support and assist legal teams, clients and internal firm departments with physical media intake and chain of custody tracking and logging. Works closely with department personnel and Information Governance to ensure materials are managed in compliance with the firm's document retention and preservation policies and schedules
  • Assist legal teams and internal firm departments with data conversion and manipulation, including proper data downloading, copying and saving; staging data, and maintaining documentation associated with same
  • Ensure proper file transfer protocols are maintained, including archiving and/or deletion of unnecessary or no longer needed file transfer workspaces
  • Assist with maintaining internal and external file transfer user access, including initial set ups, end user modification requests, and deactivating end user requests
Department Support
  • Work with department personnel on various projects to learn and develop a broader understanding of the department offerings and key tools and platforms
  • Assist with other Practice Support department requests under the direction and guidance of department personnel, including:
    • Conflicts onboarding and tracking of contract attorney document review candidates
    • Department billing, vendor invoices and tracking of same
    • Maintaining other department usage and infrastructure reports
    • Enabling and deactivating users in various Practice Support platforms, including FTP Today, Relativity and Case Notebook
    • Scheduling meetings, including department meetings, trainings, and assist with documentation associated with same
    • Actively learn and develop skills and capabilities associated with the use and application of various Practice Support platforms, including FTP Today, Relativity and Case Notebook
  • Track and manage projects and enter time for work completed
  • Acts as end-user interface to provide helpful insight with questions related to FTP Today and general file transfer support
  • Assist with compilation and updates to file transfer protocol resources and training guides
  • Understand, contribute, improve, and evangelize department practices and procedures
  • Harness creativity and collaboration with team members to innovate and solve litigation support challenges
  • Dedication to self-education regarding eDiscovery industry news, technologies, and other practice support topics
  • Work as a key member of the practice support department to improve firm-wide procedures and practices across the firm

  • Prefer Bachelor's degree and/or 2+ years of technical office-related work experience, or equivalent

Washington State
The annualized salary range for this position in Washington is $61,000 to $68,000 ($31.28-$ 34.87 hourly). Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate's education, training, experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, telemedicine and virtual short term solution based counseling services, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, subsidized backup care and caregiving resources, 401(k), vacation, sick time, 11 paid holidays each year and an employee assistance program. For full-time employees, the initial vacation benefit is 15 days per year and 11 days of sick leave per year, accrued bi-weekly.
