We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Staff Accountant focused on Physician Compensation on our Nashville based Accounting team focused on our Envision Physician Services ("Envision") affiliate company.

This position is offered on a hybrid remote schedule, enabling the Staff Accountant to work from home and in the Nashville office one day per week (on average).

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assigned accounting and financial functions including oversight of daily accounting activity, monthly financial reporting, cash management, bank reconciliations, budget analysis and work-paper presentation. This position will participate in special projects and additional financial analysis as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES of a STAFF ACCOUNTANT:

    Primary resource for Envision regarding financial issues, compensation accruals, and compensation calculations for Physicians;
  • Income statement trend analysis and preparation of notes for review of Envision's financial reports with a member of management;
  • Mid-month cash analysis to distribute available cash if necessary;
  • Reconcile bank accounts for Envision from the bank statements to the general ledger including:
    • Investigating and correcting any differences identified through the reconciliation process;
    • Identifying process or control issues surrounding cash variances;
    • Training Envision personnel on best practices when irregularities are identified.
  • Monthly analysis of balance sheet accounts and reconcile if needed;
  • Cash management and maintenance of proprietary cash management system for depository bank account;
  • Manage inflow and outflow of cash for Envision including facilitating the movement of funds to appropriate bank accounts;
  • Financial Statement Preparation including:
    • Creating all General Ledger journal entries necessary to generate financial statements;
    • Preparing assigned Envision cash flow statements and reviewing for accuracy.
  • Analyze end of month financial packages and create appropriate General Ledger entries including:
    • Analyzing, understanding, and reporting to management any large variations identified in the financial package.
  • Asset Management which may include:
    • Reconciling fixed asset costs and accumulated depreciation accounts to depreciation schedules;
    • Reviewing physical inventory counts and creating appropriate General Ledger entries;
    • Researching and understanding any large variances in inventory levels.
  • Payroll and Benefits Activity including:
    • Analyzing and recording Envision's payroll and benefits;
    • Researching and understanding variations in department totals or atypical per procedure variations;
    • Facilitating or assisting in payroll and benefit transitions.
  • Legal agreement interpretation including:
    • Auditing internal documentation regarding legal documents;
    • Lease analysis;
    • Debt Maintenance.
  • Research and assist with various analysis requirements;
  • Monitor and implement change with regard to incorrect practices being performed;
  • Adhere to Information Security Policies and ensure that Envision is as secure as possible;

QUALIFICATIONS for a STAFF ACCOUNTANT:

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, a Staff Accountant must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from a four-year accredited College or University; CPA and / or Master's Degree preferred;
  • Public Accounting and/or accounting experience in the healthcare industry desired;
  • Must be comfortable in a work-from-home environment;
  • Must meet company basic standards for working remotely.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel including pivot tables, complex formulas, VLookUps, etc.;
  • Proficiency in Access, SQL, and other relational databases and reporting tools.

Other Qualifications:

The Staff Accountant must exhibit strong knowledge of US GAAP principles. High level of competency related to knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within finance. Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner. Must be able to work well with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be detail oriented and organized. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and assignments. High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information. Must be able to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency. Proficient computer skills (including, but not limited to financial software; Windows based spreadsheet/word processing package, Internet, and email) required. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as approved in advance.
